To Kill A Mockingbird

Aaron Sorkin's riveting stage adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird will return to West End for a strictly limited season this Summer with performances at London's Wyndham's Theatre, a Delfont Mackintosh Theatre, from 25 June 2026 to 12 September 2026.

The seminal American novel about racial injustice and childhood innocence became a Broadway and West End sensation with star-studded seasons on both sides of the Atlantic and is currently thrilling audiences across the UK and Ireland in a sell-out national tour.

Successful lawyer, Atticus Finch, encourages kindness and empathy in his children, but is pushed to the limits of these qualities himself when he resolves to uncover the truth in a town that seems determined to hide it.

Stellar production and acting! Best play I’ve seen.
Amazing adaption, engaging story and I was highly impressed by ALL the actors, each held their own so well.

Thoroughly engaging, captivating performance.

Well Done!
The show was great, great acting, great rhythm to it, the story is compelling and still relevant to our days. Even funny at times! The only issue is that there's a mix between a Southern accent and a British accent and it's a little hard to understand at times.

Thought provoking production with excellent stagecraft
An story about injustice many years ago that is still very relevant

Excellent
A great take on a well loved book. The cast and set were amazing and there were plenty moments of gentle humour throughout the serious story.
Sally-Anne, 23 Apr 2023
Amazing play
Absolutely outstanding adaptation of Harper Lees book. Magnificent performances from every one.
Steve, 22 Apr 2023
Excellent show, really gripping and emotional
Sound didn’t carry too well at times, missed some dialogue. But the show was really good.

A must see
This is one of my favourite books so I was very much looking forward to seeing it on stage and I was not disappointed. It was very true to the book, well acted and I was totally immersed. Even my husband, who doesn't like London or the theatre, didn't know the story, and was only there to accompany me on my birthday, enjoyed the show.

Riveting
Spell binding portrayal of a much loved book. True to the book and cleverly told!

Full of students who arrived very late
We could not hear it adequately in the Grand Circle. We lost the plot in the final act since we just couldn't hear certain characters. Think we will need to buy the book to fully appreciate the themes and ultimate thoughts about the play. This is very disappointing. I paid over 70 pounds for 2 tickets.

Great story but spoilt by poor diction
I have not read the book or seen the Gregory Peck movie but it is a great story and script. It particularly delivers in the second half. For me, I had great difficulty in understanding many of the actors, particularly the children. I could follow the main threads but amongst others, could not understand the subplot about falling on a knife, who Billy? was or who the character at the end was who was standing under a streetlight. Whether the acoustic in the Grand Circle had something to do with it, I am not sure. I could hear Matthew Modine and the actors playing the prosecutor and Linus Deas very clearly.

A powerful moral conundrum and conflict
Excellent performance of a powerful play. Can be slightly hard to hear some of the voices, although not a major problem unless one had impaired hearing.

First show in a West end I didn't enjoy
We go to theater twice a year and never been disappointed with the show. Unfortunately To kill a Mockingbird didn't impress us at all. Acting was good, the story is good but probably for a film, not a stage performance. Was boring hence feel it's been overpriced too.

Enjoyable
As I first did aprecis whenwas 12 about 50 years ago always wanted to see play. Enjoyed the presentation and a bonus to see a US actor too.

A must see production
A really enjoyable play and the way the story was portrayed was great. Actors and actresses all brilliant. Would thoroughly recommend this production to any enthusiastic reader of literature / theatregoer.

Worth seeing
I liked the show a lot as it was a story I have read and enjoyed over the years. Atticus Finch was exceptionally good! I felt it difficult to hear some of the actors which was a shame, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed the show.

To be seen

Every emotion-not least humour!
Great cast portrayed the plot beautifully. A well- loved story was given new aspects whilst nothing of the original was lost. Thoroughly recommended!

Fantastic production
I am now rereading the book as it’s so long since I read it. A play that makes you think, laugh and cry.

Magnificent
To Kill A Mockingbird has been one of my favorite books for many years, and I have been a fan of Aaron Sorkin since my many rewatches of “The West Wing.” This play takes the themes and plot of the book and presents it in such an engaging way. It’s truly a must see. The acting was superb. I’ve seen a lot of shows and this is by far one of the best. Excellent work.

Fantastic show
We visited the show - two adults and two teenagers (14/13) we all absolutely loved it, fantastic acting all round and even though Ralf Spall was not in it, the main character was superb - wonderful show

Entertaining
Great show with added humour but never losing the importance of the plot

To Kill a Mocking Bird
On stage pianist blocks the view for those at the right hand side in the stalls front rows.
John, 27 May 2022
Wonderful acting but Sorkin is a little too preachy
The acting, set design and costumes were outstanding. I loved the self-referential narrative by the three kids who were wonderfully engaging. I didn't enjoy Aaron Sorkin’s revisions of the script that hit the audience over the head with the moral. The novel does it so much better. Calpurnia’s criticisms of Atticus were incredibly jarring as was Bob Ewell’s intellectual comments about race and America generally. You can't put 2022 sensibility into 1930s characters’ mouths.

Beautiful enhancement of the original book
I saw this play last night. I appreciated the multifaceted black characters (they were more active than in Harper Lee’s book, as I remember it) and the total relevance to today’s race relations and gender expectations. Very moving, as I’d expect from Aaron Sorkin, because it’s so well-acted and it’s creatively done — but not so creative that the time it’s set in can be forgotten.

Amazing. Must see
So enjoyable. Fantastic production

All Rise - all inspiring
The play was close to the original story of 'To Kill A Mocking Bird', yet a story for our time. The dramatic licence taken with the production made it very watchable for those who hadn't read the original text. The humour was an added dimension. The acting right across the board was superb.
