Before its Off-Broadway debut, Next To Normal workshop performances won it the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Score. It opened on Broadway in April 2009, nominated for 11 Tony awards the same year and winning Best Original Score, Best Orchestration, and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Alice Ripley. It’s the 8^th musical in history to win a Pulitzer Prize for Drama and has rarely been off the stage, loved the world over thanks to themes that every one of us recognises and empathises with, whoever we are and wherever we live.
