The Old Man & The Pool

Mike Birbiglia is a US stand-up comedian, actor, storyteller, director, producer and writer. He frequently contributes to This American Life and The Moth, and has several comedy albums and television specials under his belt as well as movies and one-man stage shows. This is his latest one-hander, a dazzlingly good and very funny exploration of his own failing health, the medical scare that changed his life, and the horrors he faced getting fit – including time spent in a chlorinated hell of a swimming pool. The result is hilarious, a performance that has wowed the critics and thrilled audiences on Broadway and elsewhere.

Directed by Seth Barrish, The Old man and the Pool is written and performed by Mike himself, a one man show with contributions from the story consultant Ira Glass. The producers are Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Patrick Catullo, and Seaview. The general management comes from Wessex Grove. The play's creative team includes the set designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer Toni-Leslie James, lighting designer Aaron Copp, sound designer Kai Harada, and projection designer Hana S. Kim.
